£1 a meal for half a million reasons


Leigh City Technology Academy previously called Leigh City Technology College (LCTC) is one of the highest achieving state comprehensive schools in England and is built upon the traditional values of respect and hard work in a modern and hi-tech learning environment.

The academy also offers its students to learn as a community where the students are actively involved in variety of global initiatives and projects relating to protecting and conserving the environment.

Raising money for YMCA an AIDS orphanage in India was one amongst the global initiative activities taken up by LCTC students.

The LCTC Post 16 students together with the help of their teachers conducted a fund raising event called '£1 a meal for half a million reasons' which was open to all at the Academy. A total of £561.02 was raised and handed over to Mike Lazenby, CEO Kent Reliance Building Society.
