Over the last few years we have been supporting a home for children in India who through no fault of their own have been infected with the AIDS virus. Typically these children, who may have been born with the virus or contracted it through their parents have a very short life expectancy that often does not extend past their teens.
There are more than 50 children living in a rented house that occupies a piece of land measuring just 1,500 square feet. At least another 15 children are waiting for a place. The home, based in Mangalore, Karnataka state, India could be taken away with very little notice and that would leave these innocent children homeless.
It is our intention over the coming year to launch a campaign to raise half a million pounds to enable a new home to be built so that these children can live out their short lives securely and without fear of being made homeless.
The campaign will ask people to sponsor a brick for £1 and we will particularly encourage young people from the UK to get involved in helping children who are so disadvantaged.
I would personally like to thank all of you who have contributed and supported this cause.
